To our fans & friends, the time has come for us to make the incredibly hard decision to bring Futures to an end.

We’ve been playing music together for over 3 years now and have had some amazing experiences that we never thought could happen to us as people and musicians, working with and meeting some great people who have made us the band we are today. We remain great friends
and nothing will change that.

As most of you know, it has been a very rocky road that has led us to where we are today and ultimately, the decision we are making. There comes a time for everyone, when truths have to be faced and new routes need to be taken to stay happy and that’s the main reason we’ve taken our time in making this decision. We feel like we have taken Futures as far as we can take it as a band, and are very proud of how far that was.

There are no words strong enough to say thank you to all the incredible fans that we have made and met along the way. Your belief and support has kept our band alive and taken us to places which looking back on, wouldn’t have been possible without the thousands of you that come and watch us on tour and buy our music. It’s still one of the best feelings to have every morning, waking up and knowing that, today, someone will be listening to songs we’ve written.

That brings us to the plain truth that this may well be the end of Futures but not for us as musicians and songwriters. We’re all pursuing new paths, and we’re hoping some will cross when the time is right.

We will be playing a farewell show on the 12th December at London’s Garage, celebrating the time we’ve had as a band, and hopefully with you good people joining us. It will be our last chance to play the songs we’ve written over the years and your last chance to see them live.

Thank you for being as much a part of Futures as we have been, for a band is not a band without its fans.

Music with passion—the video explains it all. There are no single words to describe just how incredible this song is and that, for me, is a rarity. It’s a combination of the lyrics, the melody, the accumulation of emotions that “Nowhere BLVD” captures on the first few measures—the list goes on.

This song, alone, should be enough a reason for you to go pick up TFT’s THE VERGE out on:

I rarely ever care so much about an album that I feel the need to jump on board with the band’s street team or help “spread the word.” However, I feel compelled to do that with There For Tomorrow’s upcoming album, The Verge.

From the songs that I have heard, the integrity and implication of their band has not yet been lost despite the “changes” to their new sound. They have managed to progress their sound to become honest music that connects with their listeners, something that has been lacking in music as of late.

Above is a video of their first live session of one of their singles, “The Joyride.” Yes, live session, yet it sounds exceptionally like the studio version.

Sympathy.

So, I flipped to Twitter, and there on the top of my timeline were tweets from the McFly boys “announcing” that Dougie Poynter is in rehab. Which leads me to ask: for what? Drugs? Alcohol? Depression?

I’ll stick with the latter; I’ve read from various tweets that he’s in rehab for his breakup with Frankie Sandford. If that assumption is correct, that Dougie is in rehab because of their breakup, it wouldn’t surprise me if the McFly Army comes crashing through her door, tearing her apart. Figuratively, of course.

Now, I’ve always been kind of “Frankie-neutral”—never liked her, never hated her, never bothered about her. But, would it do Dougie any justice if McFlyers started hating on her because of that reason? Save that energy for supporting Dougie, not for ripping apart Frankie. She’s human, just like you and I, and deserves proper respect, just like you and I.

This isn’t a blog post to sympathize with Frankie, however. That was just something that needed to be put out there. Dougie, on the other hand…is it possible to have so many mixed emotions for someone whom you’ve never even met?

A part of me says: “Oh, a member from my favorite band is in rehab, let’s go cry into a pillow and sympathize for him.” Yet, another part of me is frustrated, annoyed, and partially vexed.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Dougie as much as every other McFlyer, but, if the rumors are true, that he’s in rehab because of a breakup, half of me wants to fly to England and tell him face-to-face that’s he’s acting like an overindulgent, inane rockstar or a spoiled child on a tantrum.

I probably sound like a complete ass, but let me justify myself. He’s 23. He’s made himself into someone. He’s good at what he does (despite McFly’s humorous modesty, we all know they’re great musicians). He has a bright future made out for him. The path is straightforward, all he has to do is walk down it. Instead, he chooses to put his central mindset on his emotional facets. Just like a teenager, he’s letting his amygdala overpower his frontal lobe. I believe he has the ability to power through all this without checking into rehab.

I obviously don’t know how he truly is feeling though and if it’s more than just Frankie, then I can’t say much else. My heart still goes out to him. I still wish him the best and hope he gets better very soon so we can see that pretty face and hear that beautiful bass.

Wasteful thinking.

Too often, our words are wasted.

I’m sitting here watching my Facebook news feed fill up and I can’t help but realize that the status updates feel so tasteless. All in good reason for the sender, but as I’m usually on the receiving side, they’re unavailing to no end.

They’re like Mad-Libs, only not nearly as amusing to read. But, yes, these status updates provoke the same ineptitude and futile significance. It’s upsetting to see how the shard of written eloquence is a long distance away for the classmates that I interact with daily.

I’ll admit, I’ve done it before―terrible grammar, excessive punctuation, and deplorably whiny and frequent messages. However, I’m not here to defend myself because, honestly, I have no excuse. I’ve learned that with age, one must be careful on how they present themselves.

Perhaps I’m being too captious. I’m obviously not an exemplary wordsmith but I do appreciate the written word or the verbal elocution. When one speaks too much, the gravity of their words are lost; as with The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Words can be amazing tools or weapons, depending on the way that we utilize them. They’re also the entrance to one’s true being…therefore, choose carefully.

(Yes, I do realize the irony of this post, but it had to be said.)

A FAN’S POV - A CLUTTER OF THOUGHTS

McFly’s new album, Above the Noise, came out Monday, November 15. It was later released into the US iTunes, where I was finally able to get my hands on the full-length glory…sort of.

A few months ago, I was looking forward to the new album after anticipation the band racked up on Twitter. Of course, I had yet to listen any of the songs (seeing as they had yet to be released) but I had faith in them to continue their excursion of amazing music.

I was let down. Big time.

It began with the release of Party Girl sometime in September. I played it on repeat, hoping my ears would receive it as something better than it was. Never happened. Then came Shine a Light—better, but still a disappointment. The one feat that pissed me off the most though was their video. Their instruments, sans Harry’s drums for a bit, were degraded into nothing more than useless props.

Before I get into anything else, I feel the need to address that I HAVE NOT been a McFly fan since the beginning. I don’t know the reception of the albums from Room on the Third Floor to Wonderland to Motion in the Ocean, whether positive or negative. I drafted into the McFly Army during the later stages of Motion in the Ocean, approximately early 2007.

Personally, the transition from Motion in the Ocean to Radio:Active was, although different, a fantastic improvement. The roots of McFly were still there, with meaningful lyrics and a foundation of a more “rock” sound.

But now, they’ve taken their music to a whole new level—of thoroughly synthesized pop.

I’ve listened to the entirety of the album at least three times now and there are only one or two songs that I can pick out that still sticks to that McFly sound, lyric-wise. Instrumentally, McFly’s guitars and drums have been lost in the move. For what their music’s worth on this album, they could pass off as a simple boy band group.

The other songs have been completely taken to a new direction—a downhill direction. McFly’s lyrics have lost its magic touch; say goodbye to eloquent and expressive and say hello to clichéd.

The good of this album is that Tom’s and Danny’s vocals sound better than they have ever been. Whether their voices suit this music or they’ve been digitally altered, their voices do seem to fall into the niche of this genre.

It seems almost as if the band is trying to reach out to a new, wider audience with their more “grown-up” lyrics and catchy beats, yet at the same time they fail to notice that some of their older fans are starting to peak with their interest levels of McFly. It almost feels like a “kick in the balls,” so to speak for those Radio:Active fans. There are no traces of their former album; no integration of a smooth transition, just a sharp decline.

There is only one way to put this, and I hate using this term, but has McFly become a sellout? When I listen to this album, I feel that they’re producing music to rack up numbers and not for the joy of it. They’re taking on a genre of music that belongs to Lady Gaga and Ke$ha.

This isn’t by any means the end of my fan-ship with McFly. It seems unnecessary to stop liking them because of one terribly lacking album.

However, they’ve missed the mark with this one. I’m crossing my fingers that this is nothing but an experimental stage.

If you’re a strong fan of Radio:Active or Motion in the Ocean, I suggest skipping out on buying Above the Noise for 10 bucks on iTunes. You’ll regret it, I know I did.

I’d like to think fear stems from the depths of our mind that remain empty. The tragic anomalies of life that can’t be explained.

The fear of the paranormal comes from the perceptions our minds are wired to create to fill its voids. The fear of heights comes from the sensation that our mind produces to sturdy our physical being and so forth.

Fears can be composed by tragic events that trigger a lifelong nullity; fear itself does not fit anyone person to a tee.

With Halloween just around the corner, we dip our toes into the depths of those metaphysical aberrations. While kids are blissfully putting on their costumes of decaying zombies, blood-dripping grim reapers, or eerie apparitions, there is no fear instilled in their minds.

But, what happens after October 31st? Society is back into the sanctuaries of their homes, second-guessing their trip to see the newest spine-chilling film or unhinging about the creaking noise coming from the attic.

Why is Halloween, for countries that do celebrate it, a one-day excuse for us to forget what fear truly exists for?

We’ve been so eager to share what we’ve done with this EP in the building weeks to the release day. Re:Creations:

Normally, I’m indifferent about remixes. I never did enjoy them, especially after getting so used to the original version.

Yet, the remixes that I have heard from There For Tomorrow’s Re:Creations are extremely well-crafted. Like any good remix should be, it doesn’t draw away from the original version of the song. It’s a new twist to an old song, but the roots are still there.

Although I should be sleeping right now, there’s something that’s been scratching at the interior walls of my mind.

It’s always there; it’s impossible to fight it. It’s what others think of you.

I never have the ability to not care. I truly admire those who, frankly, “don’t give a fuck” about what others say or think about them. Every action you take has some effect on another person, adding to their impression of you.

Whether it is for good or for bad, there is someone out there subconsciously judging you simply by the way you walk or by the clothes on your back. It’s impossible to not judge anyone at first sight, no matter what anyone says.

There’s always a catch. When you go to a school with people you’ve grown up with and never get to know them, there are conflicts that arise. Bitter words are exchanged behind backs, dirty looks are thrown your way, and bullying takes its toll.

Everyone has been made fun of sometime in their life, by “friends” or bullies. It doesn’t matter who tells you - it still hurts. Surely it’s taken a little less heavily when a friend tells you your shirt is ugly, but you probably won’t end up wearing that shirt again without a second thought about it. It’s worse when simple acquaintances are making unjustly accusations.

I wish that they had the ability to say it to your face. But, that wouldn’t make it as easy, would it?

Think before you speak. The power of speech is limitless.

Sunday 10/17 –Talk to DJs and music stores about playing songs from RE:CREATIONS

Monday 10/18 –Takeover music sites including AbsolutePunk, AP, etc, getting everyone excited for the release

Tuesday 10/19 –Purchase RE:CREATIONS and reinforce earlier promo techniques

Incentive:

Send in pictures and screen shots of everything you do. Everyone who promotes or participates in any part of this mission will receive a There For Tomorrow poster. The top three promoters will receive a There For Tomorrow T-shirt as well as a free download code for RE:CREATIONS.

These are just guidelines, feel free to combine promo techniques and step outside of the box. This mission is not meant to limit you, but instead encourage you to get creative.

It is understandable that not everyone will be able to complete every part of this mission, but hopefully with our combined efforts we will be able to cover all three areas of promo
